December 21, 2013 10:20 am Leave your thoughts Never has Philippa been so relieved to finish a project (ever); appropriately named Voyage Boxed is the second part of a project curated by Imi Maufe and Rona Rangsch – based on the theme of sea journeys, island hopping and trans-oceanic concepts.
Eighteen artists have been asked to produce an edition of 50 artworks ranging from film, etching, sculpture, sound etc. The pieces will be combined within a custom made box, and will go on to be exhibited in Germany and Norway
For the original project Philippa produced a book entitled 8 minutes across – for part 2 – the theme has been developed into an original artwork called one in twenty six million.
The wooden format with star motif reflects the ferry’s onboard seating. Eight becomes the dominant theme, with each piece having a total of eight processes applied; and the content aims to highlight the briefness of the journey.
