typewriter art at st bride
September 29, 2014 8:19 am Leave your thoughts Last Wednesday night, a number of people gathered at the St Bride Foundation to hear Barrie talk about his book Typewriter Art – with a few digressions along the way – which included the double shift keyboard, the fact you can’t Tweet on a British Typewriter (no # key), the inability to undo that which you have done, and Ultravox’s Vienna. The talk started with a video of the typewriter art of Stephanie Strange…and throughout the night, Keira Rathbone was ‘live typing’, a term coined in 1904 to describe the ‘drawings from life’ that Flora Stacey produced with her Bar-Lock typewriter.Barrie would like to say a huge thank you to the St Bride Foundation for inviting him, to Keira, Stephanie and (of course) the audience.Categorised in: talks, typewriter
