Book Description
The Useful and the Ornamental is an extension of a previous project which explored given texts from the 1963 publication Taking the ache out of Gardening by Stuart Dudley. The initial collaboration was a visual interpretation of the text from the opening page of each chapter; the pages were produced individually before being swapped with each other to enable a second embellishment to be added. 

This concertina adopts the premise of Dudley’s book that – no two gardens are the same; utilising a selective range of the patterns produced, typewritten symbols, relief printing and self-adhesive labels form an abstract visual language whereby no two books are the same.
