Book Description
This book is based around observations of pavement hieroglyphics – or in other words the signs and symbols that identify for the workforce responsible, where to dig and position pipes and cables, and to what depth. Each colour denotes a different utility: blue for water, red for electricity, yellow for gas and green for cable networks.
Letterpress and mono-printed shapes are overprinted onto pages from a 1930s edition of Pitman’s Shorthand exercise book. The books represent either Croydon or Stamford, Lincolnshire and each is unique.
